lensblr-network: blog.youknowthatthing.com I first picked up a grown-up camera (anything other than a mobile phone camera) about 12 months ago, and use my blog to post random images from my travels and home whilst I’m trying to learn what I’m doing. I use a Canon 650D, a couple of M43 cameras and a number of older film cameras, particularly fond of my Pentax ME Super and K1000. I wouldn’t say I have a particular preference for objects or style, although in the words of my sister “it’s all just black & white pictures of buildings, right?”.

malformalady: A frost flower is the name given to a condition in which thin layers of ice are extruded from long-stemmed plants in autumn or early winter. The thin layers of ice are often formed into exquisite patterns that curl into “petals” that resemble flowers. The formation of frost flowers is dependent on a freezing weather condition occurring when the ground is not yet frozen. The sap in the stem of the plants will expand, causing long, thin cracks to form along the length of the stem. Water is then drawn through these cracks via capillary action and freezes upon contact with the air. As more water is drawn through the cracks it pushes the thin ice layers further from the stem, causing a thin “petal” to form.
